This film is similar to ours, 'Counterplay' as it is about a young girl who gets attacked by a stranger. We show the parents to have left for vacation and left the daughter alone at home whereas in taken, the daughter goes away for vacation. We chose to keep the daughter at home due to the location as we think a lonely house best fits our genre of a horror.
I think we should use this in our film when our victim is on the phone to her friend after hearing a knock on the door. I want our victims environment to be cold, dark and lonely and her friends house to be warm and cosy to juxtapose the environments to make her setting seem a lot worse. Another film called 'The Lovely Bones' does this in a different way but is equally effective.
The fast paced shots in Taken creates a high amount of suspense and tension which i want to create in our horror. The end of the Taken trailer is also very effective as the title and credits come on screen in silence apart from the diagetic sound of the mobile phone. This fits in with the horror genre and would be useful to use in our film to create a sinister atmosphere.
