Genre research for film idea 1.

Genre: Horror

The genre in which i wrote my first story on was a horror. I believe these are very interesting films as they use cinematography and mise-en-scene to create an amazing overall feel. My story involves a group of girls who have a friend that will never go out at night, but the friends don't understand why. The girl turns out to be a crazy serial killer who only kills at night. This idea is similar to an American TV series called Dexter. The twist in the series is that Dexter actually works for the police but at the same time is working against them.
Typical horror iconography will be seen throughout throughout, as this film is a gory horror these things would include; knifes, saws, chainsaws and surgical equipment.

A horror film that could be similar to this idea of mine is the Saw series. However, in most of these films the harming is done to themselves as it is a matter of life or death.
Similar iconography is seen throughout all horror films and the main one which would be seen throughout mine as well as most others is blood. This is a huge factor in horror movies which adds extra gore and as it is a phobia of many people, it can also be seen as scary.

A similar film also would be Texas chainsaw massacre as this also involves people being tortured and harmed. These films could have huge influence on my own as the genre, sub-genre and iconography all include the same things.
